Sin Is Transgression of The Law
Honoring your Father and Mother can't save you, but it's good to do and an expected part of a repentant believer's life. The same could be said for any other commandment in the law of Yahweh, not just the command to honor your Father and Mother. Paulus (Paul) is teaching that your good works of keeping the law cannot atone for your sin, cause you to be redeemed, and result in your salvation. You need the shed blood of the Messiah (Christ) to atone for your sin, to be redeemed, and to be saved. That doesn't mean law breaking is "OK". It simply means your law keeping can't save you. Law breaking is still a sin according to 1 John 3:4, so it's not OK, just like all sin is not OK. We are called to repent!
This simple misunderstanding is what has caused so much confusion in Christianity for a very, very long time. Originally, 2,000 years ago, Christians that we read about in the Bible all kept the seventh day Sabbath and kept other laws as we see in the Book of Acts (like Acts 13 and Acts 15:21). It's not a difficult concept to understand - this has to do with how we define sin. However, it may be hard for some to let go of pre-conceived ideas and embrace this since most of society does not. This is the simple truth of the Scriptures. All of Yahweh's laws teach us how to love. With that simple understanding, it's easy to see how breaking any of the laws is a sin. Since it is a sin, we must repent.

I have heard many points people try to make over the years against this simple truth, but there is always a way to understand the Scriptures that results in one clear message from Genesis to Revelation - one standard for what is right and wrong - not two. It makes more sense that there is one standard. There is no Bible verse that changes the standard of what is right and wrong. All the laws apply to all mankind - otherwise there would be nothing for mankind to need to repent of in the first place. Some laws only affect men, some only affect women, some only affect priests, but all the laws, generally speaking, are applicable to all mankind in the correct context. Prophesies in the books of Ezekiel, Isaiah, and Zechariah show in the future there will be Sabbaths, New Moons, Feasts, and yes, even animal offerings. The whole world will be keeping the feasts. That shows that it is Yahweh's will for all mankind and always has been.
The Book of Hebrews is also inspired as part of the inspired Bible from Genesis to Revelation, but Hebrews is often misunderstood. There are answers to your questions, if you are confused. Genesis to Revelation speaks one message and all of it is inspired.
In the last chapter of Isaiah, why would eating swine's flesh matter if the laws were going to be abolished? This future judgment mentioned in the last Chapter of Isaiah should cause a Christian to pause, consider their ways, and realize the mainstream Christian doctrines are incorrect. The laws of Yahweh in the Old Testament are not abolished.
Brothers and sisters, please hear me out. Since Adam and Chawwah (Eve) were kicked out of the Garden in Genesis because of eating something they were told not to eat, should we be surprised that Yahweh still cares about what we put in our bodies which are the Temple of the Holy Spirit?
1 Timothy 4:5 does not teach that you can just pray and then eat anything you want. 1 Timothy 4:5 says it is set apart by "the Word of Elohiym and prayer". What is the Word? Well, all of Scriptures is the Word. So Leviticus 11, which is the Word also, sets apart what is food for us to eat. So 1 Timothy 4:5 is actually in support of Leviticus 11, because Leviticus 11 is also the Word.
Acts 10 is a parable vision which happened three times representing three Gentiles. In Acts 10:17, Petros was still doubting about the vision - he did not yet come to a determination what the vision meant. In verse 19, he was still thinking about the vision. Then finally we see three Gentiles came, and we realize now the three times represented three Gentiles. Yahweh was teaching Petros in Acts 10 that the man-made laws that created division between Jews and Gentiles were not to be followed anymore. Those man-made laws created hostility between believers, and those man-made laws are abolished. That hostility is killed and destroyed. Petros declares the meaning of the Acts 10 vision in Acts 10:28 when he says, "Elohiym has shown me that I should not call any man common or unclean". So what did Yahweh show Petros? He shows him to not call Gentiles unclean just because they are of another race. The Acts 10 vision had nothing to do with actual animals - it was a parable vision.
Ephesians 2 is saying that man-made laws that created enmity and hostility between believers are abolished. Galatians is actually teaching we should not observe pagan days and seasons, like the date of December 25th which came from outside of Christianity - from another religion - and the special recognition pagans show to the winter season. These pagan times and recognitions of seasons, which are not from the Bible, are against Christianity, and the Book of Galatians is actually teaching that Christians should not take part in these pagan observances, which have nothing to do with the original "Biblical Christianity" we see in the Bible.
To be a "Christian" is to be "of Christ". The term "Christ" means "The Anointed". It's the same meaning as, "Messiah" or "Mashiach". The terms "Christian" and "Messianic" don't really mean something different in my mind. To me, they are the same because it all points to a disciple of the Anointed One Yahushua.
Originally, the term Christianos (Christian) would have been associated with living like the Jewish people live. Over the last 2,000 years, the term "Christian" or "Christianity" has become associated with things from pagans which are actually against the original Biblical Christianity itself. Something that is "pagan" is inherently not "Christian" according to the Biblical understanding of what it means to be a "Christian". All Christians in the Bible believed in keeping the laws. So I am not against the word "Christian" or the word "Christianity", rather, I maintain that the Bible is the authority on how to define true Christianity. No church, organization, or man, can redefine Christianity to be what they want - we must let the Bible define Christianity for us. All Christians in the Bible kept the seventh day Sabbath, so the seventh day Sabbath is inherently "Christian". I hope this makes you think a little.
I am not judging you, brothers and sisters. I am not pushing you away. My arms are open to you. I am here beside you to say, let's accept what the Word says and get back to the roots of Christianity, true Christianity, as defined by the Bible.
The prophesies of the Bible cannot be brushed aside as insignificant. They are very significant, and they require all Christians to realize that mainstream Christianity has not taught us the full truth that the Messiah (Christ) intended us to learn.
The teachings of the Messiah (Christ) show us the purpose of the law is about love. His message was never to get rid of the law.
The message of Paulus (Paul) teaches us that no human being is capable of receiving salvation through their own works. Paulus (Paul) had to address this issue 2,000 years ago because there were believers trying to treat uncircumcised men like they were not saved yet even though they had believed and repented. This is contrary to the Good News, so Paulus (Paul) addressed this false doctrine to ensure it is abundantly clear that no works can save any man, and we are solely dependent upon the shed blood of the Messiah (Christ) to atone for our sins.
It was necessary for Paulus (Paul) to address the false doctrines that existed at that time, otherwise we would probably be facing something similar today. Sadly, however, his words have been misunderstood as we see a warning about happening in 2 Peter 3:15-17.
I implore you, fellow Christians, seek the truth in these matters. There is no possible way that the law is abolished. The entire Bible from cover to cover is opposed to this idea. The Messiah (Christ) came to magnify the law (Isaiah 42:21). I am not saying anyone is judged or condemned if they don't understand this, I'm just trying to help you do what's right and live righteously, which is what repentance is all about. Once we understand this truth, and accept it, the rest of the things in the Bible make a lot more sense.
If something is a "shadow", that does not mean it has less significance, that means it has more significance. The concept of a shadow is not new to the New Testament - this was taught in Ecclesiastes 6:12 and 8:13. If something is "old" or "wearing away", that doesn't mean it's unimportant, that means it's part of the "good way" of Jeremiah 6:16 and that it's been heavily in use and is still in use today. We would never say to a young person they will become "less important" when they are old. We would, instead, value the wisdom that comes with years. This society tries to color their gray hair, but the Bible teaches that gray hair is a crown of splendor in Proverbs 16:31.
Colossians 2:16-17 is actually teaching that believers should not let those outside the body of Messiah judge them for keeping the Sabbaths, New Moons, Feasts, etc. because these observances are a shadow pointing to very important spiritual things, which means because they are a shadow, they have great, great importance and meaning and significance. The reason someone might possibly judge a Christian in the first century for doing these things is because if they were against the Jewish people, then when a person left pagan practices and began doing what the Jewish people did, like keeping Sabbath, they might be judged by people for doing that. Colossians is teaching, don't let those people judge you because only believers in the body could have a right to correct you regarding those things.
I hope someone, somewhere, will read this and accept the truth. Yahweh will help you to do what's right, no matter how hard it is, so let's accept the truth that the law is not abolished, sin is the transgression of the law, and let's repent and do our best to honor Him.
